Engaged to be married in Italy

When you meet Anne, you immediately want to become best friends with her. She has a heart of gold and is just so easy to talk to. Anne is from Brazil (but grew up in Boston) and Don is from a small town in Italy. They’re planning a destination wedding next summer, if the circumstances with COVID allow them to. Anne described the location as a small town in Italy where everyone knows each other. Imagine a historic venue in Italy, amazing food, beautiful people and all taking place in the summer. I can picture it now!

When Anne reached out about taking her and Don’s engagement photos in NYC, I was beyond excited to photograph in such a daydream of a location! The cityscape, greenery and of course, their overflowing love made it idyllic.

Tour guide and photographer

Neither of them are from NYC so we chose to take photos in popular locations that seem to be straight from a postcard. They both loved exploring Central Park. Usually, I become the tour guide in new locations, but Anne and Don were particular with their selections. They scouted locations ahead of time to ensure that they got the exact look for their NYC and Central Park engagement photos.

A city all to ourselves

We were surprised at how empty the park was even during a global pandemic. Usually, on a nice fall day, the park and grand staircase by the Bethesda Terrace is so packed that the only available time to take photos is at sunrise.

We were so lucky because there was hardly anyone there. We started in Central Park, ate lunch and then visited Edge, a new observation deck. The Edge was just as it sounds — with a 360-degree view of NYC and beyond. We ended the day with engagement photos at the New York Public Library.

Details that look absolutely dashing

The attention to detail in Anne and Don’s outfits was outstanding. I love when my couples take time to do their hair, makeup and pick an outfit that makes them feel confident and excited for their session.

Still gushing over these Central Park engagement photos

I’ve always wanted to photograph in NYC and in Central Square. To have the place to ourselves made the session much more intimate, allowing us to enjoy the moment instead of rushing to the next spot. I adored hearing their love story and wedding day plans.
