I love connecting with moms and taking sweet newborn photos. Teresa, the mom of this sweet girl, found me through a mutual group called Boston Naps. It’s a mom community in Boston. Another mom recommended me as a newborn photographer.
Newborn photos with giggles and all
If possible, I recommend taking newborn photos when babies are 4-14 days old. That’s their prime sleepy time, resulting in those cute, curled up photos parents love.
This baby, though, grew up way too quickly and was already two months old by the time we met! This meant that we got more giggles and personality, but we also had to work a little more closely with this two-month-old’s schedule.
In this case, we let baby Clara lead the session and I worked closely with mom and dad to ensure that everyone was comfortable and feeling confident too. Clara did take some time to fall asleep and woke up a couple times, but we worked with her schedule to make sure we snapped a few while she was sleeping and when she was awake, we brought out those giggles.
Clara’s parents were so easy to work with, allowing me to direct them and make for a smooth transition. I also sent a preparation list ahead of time to ensure that we were all on the same page.
Cuddles and big, bright eyes
It was so fun seeing Clara’s big personality, despite being only two months old! It’s crazy how quickly these newborns grow up. We got photos of mom and dad sneaking in cuddles, and Clara looking right at the camera.
I love all of these images, but the true black and white photo has to be my favorite. With lifestyle newborn photos, it brings out so much emotion. Without the colors, you see pure happiness in black and white form.
